My daughter has started going to school and I feel my school days are back; but with added topups and a different role. I have to get up early in the morning to prepare her breakfast, I have to wake her up, to get her ready for the school with all the patience required in the world so that she starts off her day happily. I have got so much involved in her and all this daily chore, that on the way to her school I overlooked the BIG python that was lying alive on the walkway just after the pedestrian crossing at the signal. I dropped her at school and on the way back, met my husband who follows the same route to go to office. He brought the snake into my attention. It was really shocking to see such a huge python with its flickering tongue, more for overlooking it. But it was lying there very inactive, as if it was hurt somewhere. My fright got converted to sympathy.
Now we were really concerned and wanted to make all efforts to save the poor snake. It belonged to the wild and needed to be treated and taken into the wild. With the help of a friend, we made a lot of calls: to the Zoo, to the Civil Defence, even to the petcare and finally hesitatingly, to the emergency police, who accepted to take charge of the situation. We were so relieved. Now we aren't informed yet of whether the snake is alive or not but we are satisfied to do our parts to save a life. If it is in the snake's destiny to be alive, all forces in the nature will come together to make that happen. I feel at peace to be a part of one such moment.
